20HR CLINICAL YOGA THERAPY
This two day course will delve into the human mind and body in relation to the work of yoga teachers and therapists from the lens of a medical practitioner. You will learn about the human body and its interrelationships, the biomechanics and motion of the body in relation to the practice of yoga and meditation, and stages of development within the human body. You will also learn about common illnesses, pathologies and disorders, as well as mental health conditions, and how they can be eased and managed in the work of yoga therapy. As a practising medical professional, Dr Renee Loxley has a vast knowledge of anatomy and the functions of the human body, combined with her years of teaching yoga provides for an educational experience that is unique to Zama Institute.
Dr Renee Loxley completed her Yoga Teacher Training through YIMI in 2013 and is incredibly grateful to be able to share her love of yoga as her job! She has been practicing yoga for over 10 years after some time realised that it was the only physical activity that she had ever actually stuck to and that it was the benefits for the mind that really allowed her to commit to her yoga practice. She found herself going back for the calm, the stillness and for the sense of gratitude, acceptance and compassion that yoga evoked for her.
Renee graduated from a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2017 and is currently practising at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She strives to be a doctor who incorporates yoga, holistic medicine and mindfulness into her Western Medicine practice. Her background in medical sciences means that she specialises in teaching anatomy and physiology content to yoga teacher trainers.
This Clinical Yoga Therapy course is scheduled for Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th August 2019 at Zama Yoga Toowong
20HR TRAUMA SENSITIVE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
It is now a known scientific fact that trauma is stored in tissues of our body. Our face, our body and our posture store the history of our lifetime. Sacred yogic texts have recognised this fact for thousands of years. Metaphysically and scientifically, our fate lies deep within. Our past trauma is stored in our cells, our genes and our DNA. Trauma not only effects our cells, but it changes our body, our gut, our brain wave patterning, our nervous system and our brains. The memory of the past that lives within us sees us often trying to suppress the inner chaos inside ourselves at the expense of our spontaneous involvement in life.
In this course, through methods of trauma release for the muscles, organs and fascia, we will explore the ways to unlock the karmic fate of the body and bring freedom of movement and mind into the present. Trauma Sensitive Yoga is an essential key to free the knots of the past. Breathing together, moving together, touch and eye contact with trusted others help us to dissolve the past and the fate that lies in our genes.
