Spinal Movements & Backbends – A Master Class with Shani Abergil

Backbends are an integral part of any Yoga practice. The intention of backbends is to open up your chest and rib cage in preparation for pranayama (breathwork). Backbends can be very exhilarating for many of us and if done correctly, backbends will be challenging but still comfortable. If you are not experiencing freedom in your backbends, it may be a sign that you may be compressing your spine instead of increasing your range of motion.
During this master class led by Shani, you will explore a deep awareness of the fundamental alignment required to practice safely when attempting back bending asanas. If you suffer from any kind of back pain, this master class is ideal for you to get some one-on-one guidance about your form individually in each of the poses. If you are a beginning yogi looking to expand your practice, this master class will help you explore the beauty of safe back and spine bending in a supportive environment. For experienced yogis, this will be an opportunity for you to reach the next level of your asana journey as you learn to deepen your back bending practice.
