Sam, who is one of our teachers here at the Toowong studio, practices Kahuna Massage, and is trained in the traditional Hawaiian ‘Old Style Lomi Lomi’. In the Hawaiian language, ‘lomi lomi‘ means to press and knead, and the word (or title) ‘Kahuna‘ is said to hold tremendous power and is traditionally said in a hushed tone to convey its importance. Kahuna massage combines both the bodywork therapy with a focus on the mind and soul, with the practitioner channeling and directing life force (or ‘mana‘) and flows throughout the entire being on every level, down to the cellular construct. Sam’s massage teacher would constantly say, “Where there is Light, darkness cannot exist. Introduce the Light….. you are a Lighthouse”. Sam also incorporates energy work using her Reiki training, and time spent as an intuitive masseuse before she trained in the Lomi Lomi style.
Ben practices remedial massage, which is a therapeutic treatment that manipulates the soft tissues of the body. Remedial is a deep massage, and is ideal for an injured or tense body. Depending on each person’s requirements and needs, remedial massage movements are designed for a specific therapeutic effect to relieve muscle tension or chronic pain. Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more can be eased with a remedial treatment, and the release remedial massage provides will leave you feeling amazing after your massage therapy.

Relaxation massage is perfect when you want to de-stress, relax and restore – it is a gentle and soothing style, but more pressure can be added during the massage therapy if required. Thai yoga massage is given on the floor, and incorporates movement around the body. It is influenced by traditional Asian medicine systems, as well as yoga practice, and involves yoga-like movements during the massage session. Ayurvedic massage is a stronger style, with continual strong strokes, applied pressure while using oils on the body. Ayrvedic massage can work in conjunction with Indian Ayurvedic medicine treatments, and aims to release the unwanted toxins, while rejuvenating the body.
