autumn equinox sunday march 20

march equinox 2016The Autumn Equinox this year will fall on Sunday, 20th March 2016. An equinox, which occurs twice a year (once in Autumn and once in Spring), is where day and night are exactly equal in duration. Each equinox signifies a point of balance between both solstices – the Summer Solstice, when the days are long, and the Winter Solstice – when the days are the shortest. The Autumn Equinox represents the beginning of the period of less light, as we head towards Winter.

The dark is a time to honour stillness and calm, to reflect inwards and take time to rejuvenate.

On Sunday, 20th March, at both studios we will be running a special hot hatha class that will work on aligning your own rhythms with that of the Earth’s seasons, and will focus on poses that build the immune system to help prepare your body for the oncoming Winter.
