This year, the Autumn Equinox falls on Friday 20th March 2015. In many parts of the world (sadly, not us here in Australia), there is also a total solar eclipse happening on the 20th, so it is a wonderful day to be in tune with the sun. An equinox, which occurs twice a year (once in Autumn and once in Spring), is a date on which the day and night are exactly equal duration, and the sun passes across the celestial equator. Each Equinox signifies a point of balance between the two Solstices (the Summer Solstice, when the days are at their longest, and the Winter Solstice, when the days are at their shortest). The Autumn Equinox represents the beginning of the dark, as we head towards Winter.
On Friday, 20th March, at both studios we will be running a special hot vinyasa class that will work on aligning your own rhythms with that of the Earth’s seasons, and will focus on poses that build the immune system to prepare the body for the oncoming Winter.
